9th Congress of the Asian Pan-Pacific Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, 16-19 June, 2005, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The 9th Congress of the APPSPGHAN was officially opened on 16th June in conjunction with the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Paediatric Association.  Four days  of international scientific meeting on paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.   The conference attracted participants from various Asian countries and nearby continents and was well attended by almost 200 international participants.  There were series of plenary lectures and symposia with our key speakers, Prof Ian Booth, Prof Chan Mei-Hwei, Prof Geoff Cleghorn, Prof Yuichiro Yamshiro, summarizing current work and upcoming features like in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.   The Meet-The-Expert Session with Prof Alastiar Baker, Prof Goeff Davidson, Prof Ross Shepherd, Prof Ian Booth, and Prof Chang Mei-Hwei was also both well attended and beneficial to all with emphasis on liver disease, hepatitis, gastroenterologeal reflux, gastrointestinal food allergy, neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia, chronic diarrhea and inflammatory bowel disease.

The APPSPGHAN would like to express our appreciation to the Organising Committee from the MPA, all invited speakers and participants for making this Congress another success for the Society.
