About us

The Asian Pan Pacific Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology & Nutrition (APPSPGHAN) was formally established at the 4th Pan Pacific Meeting of pediatric gastroenterologists in Tokyo in 1993. However discussions had first occurred as early as 1988 when the first congress occurred in Queensland. Following the Tokyo meeting Geoff Cleghorn from Brisbane became the foundation president and he has been followed by Yuichiro Yamashiro (Tokyo), Mei - Hwei Chang (Taipei) and the Seng Hock Quak from Singapore.

APPSPGHAN is now one of the four key global societies for Pediatric Gastroenterology and is a foundation member of the global Federation of Societies of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition. Its potential membership covers over half of the world’s population and therefore does have a very important role in terms of health advocacy and public health issues.
